Barry M Nail Paint in Indigo is (as the name suggests) an indigo shade of blue and has purplely undertones to it. In just two coats the polish is suprisingly opaque for it's cheap price-tag, and is a perfect shade for those who love a deeper and darker colour on their nails in the autumn/winter season. After a good ten minutes spent searching the internet for the Jack Wills Nail Polish in Blue, I've come to the conclusion that they've sadly discontinued this metallic polish. I received this as a Christmas present, and was so pleased with it as it seemed to be my solution to Topshop's discontinued polish in Blue on Blue - so if anyone has any recommendations for a blue metallic polish similar to this, please send them my way!
If you're familiar around these parts, you may recognise Topshop Nails in Blue Rinse from my Topshop haul post from back in August... yes, I'm still banging on about this. After Anna raved about the polish, I had to get my mits on it too as it's such a lovely cornflower pastel shade and even looks lavendery in some lights. Of all these polishes this is my favourite in terms of formula (and maybe colour too?), because how opaque it is for a pastel, without feeling gloopy or heavy.
On the other end of the spectrum there's Rimmel London's Rita Ora 60 Seconds in Pillow Talk, which has my least favourite formula of the five. It took three thick coats of this to build up the colour and coverage you can see in the photo, and it chips really easily after application. I think this may have been discontinued too, and although it is a nice ice blue colour, the random bits of shimmer in the polish aren't completely to my liking. And finally, the Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in Eat My Dust was my second purchase of the summer and I love it. This is a super light pastel blue that does as it says on the tin and dries so quickly - it also looks gorgeous with a tan (come back summer!). The only downside to this is that I've found the formula to get a little gloopy over time, so to thin it out I've been placing the bottle in the fridge for 10 minutes before application which works a treat.
What do you think to these polishes? Are you a more pinky/neutral nail lover or do you prefer out-there blues and greens?

beautiful shades! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Janne! Glad you like these too and thanks for stopping by on my blog :) x
DeleteFive shades of blue! Just realised I don't have any blue nail polish :o, gotta check out the Rimmel one!
ReplyDeleteHaha I'm starting to think it's a bit excessive but they are all lovely shades! I couldn't find the Rimmel polish online whilst writing this post but it's worth a look in store or on eBay/Amazon for it :) x
DeleteSuch beautiful shades, Barry M do some really amazing polishes! :)

Aw thank you - I'm glad you like them! Barry M is probably the brand that takes up the majority of my nail polish collection. Despite being cheap they aren't bad quality at all and their shade range is so extensive, I really like these two shades by them and couldn't recommend them more :) x
DeleteLove blue shades! The last three look very similar, I've really wanted to try the quick dry ones for a while now!
ReplyDeleteHannah | Oh January
Ah I'm glad you do too! I now bluw nails aren't everyone's cup of tea but I just love 'em. They are very similar in that they are all pastels but the third stands out to me the most as I love the cornflowery shade. I love the formula of this Speedy Quick Dry polish and really want ot try out some more :) x
DeleteThese are lovely shades of blue!! Love the jack wills nail polish, the color is perfect for the upcoming holidays!
ReplyDeleteAh I'm glad you like them too! It really is a lovely colour for this time of year - I'm so sad that they've discontinued it as I love a good metallic nail polish. Thanks for reading :) x
DeleteAfter Anna talked about Blue Rinse I went and picked it up too, it's such a nice light blue shade. I'm also really wanting to get my hands on Eat My Dust but sadly Barry M isn't sold in Australia :(
ReplyDeletewww.thesundaymode.blogspot.com.au
Haha glad I'm not the only one who is seriously effected my watching Anna's youtube/reading her blog! I love Blue Rinse as I feel like it is such a middle ground for a blue as it's a pastel but not too pale either. Ah no that's such a shame, you should definitely see if amazon or ebay can ship it to you though :) x
DeleteIndigo looks gorgeous! I do have Eat My Dust and although it's lovely I don't think I suit lighter blues xx
ReplyDeleteJasmine Talks Beauty | High-End Palette Giveaway
I'm glad you like the look of it too Jasmine! I love the purpley undertones to the shade. I defitely get what you mean about some shades not suiting some skin tones which is such a shame as Eat My Dust is lovely, I'd definitely recommend Blue Rinse though if that's the case as I feel it's quite middle ground in terms of colour but is still a pastel :) x
DeleteThese all look so pretty! I hardly wear blue nail polish and when I wear blue then I go for darker shades so I like the dark ones you're wearing more :) x
ReplyDeletewww.elabellaworld.com
Thanks Ela! It was only until recently that I tried the lighter shades of blue, but thw middle Blue Rinse is my favoruite of the five I think. I'm currently wearing it on my nails and it's such a good middle ground for those who like pastels but find them too pale :) x
DeleteThat topshop shade is gorgeous :) Definitely going to have to get that!

ReplyDeleteJodie, xo // Jodie Loue
I love any sort of deep shades for autumnal nails, and Indigo is such a nice alternative to a deep berry mani! I'm glad you like it, it's so opaque in two coats - I'd deifnitely recommend picking it up :) x

DeleteThese colors are so pretty! I love blue shades for fall :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mintnotion.com
Aw glad you like these! Yeah I think dark blues are a nice alternative to the usual deep reds and berrys you see a lot around fall :) x
DeleteI have a lot of pale blue colours but no dark ones! I love Barry M but I've found that speedy quick dry isn't too good and dries really horribly! You've inspired me to get some dark blue shades ready for Autumn though!
ReplyDeleteMusings & More
Oh that's intersting because I had my dark colours before my pale ones! Ah that's a shame, I've found the application of mine to become a lot more gloopy over time but to thin the polish out I've been adding a bit of nail polish remover to the formula and putting it in the fridge 10 mins before painting my nails. Aw I'm glad I have, looking forward to seeing whch ones you pick up Emily :) x
Deletewow that topshop colour looks amazing! I'm in love <3
ReplyDeletewww.buzztosophia.blogspot.ca
The Topshop is deifnitely my favourtie out of the five and I'm actually wearing it now! It's definitely worth the £6 as the formula is long lasting too :) x

It is such a gorgeous colour isn't it and so perfect for autumn time! Eat My Dust is lovely too, but you just need to keep an eye on the formula as mine's unfortunately gone a little gloopy :( x
