Bath Time Treats to Alleviate Stress

11 May 2016

As I've mentioned many a time on this blog, I love a good bath - especially making use of mine when I come home from university as my student lifestyle doesn't allow for tub time. Over this Easter holiday and the couple of weekends I have been back since Christmas, I have been testing out a few new bathroom bits (albeit my own or my mum's and even my dad's) and thought these may be useful if you're looking to spruce up your pamper evening or help you destress after a long day.

I have a lot of time for Lush Cosmetics (I even dedicated part of a job application to how much I love their products and ethics), so of course something of their's was going to feature in this post. I picked up the Oxford Street Easter Exclusive Somewhere Over the Rainbow a couple of weeks ago and not only did it look gorgeous, it smelt gorgeous too! Hopefully they will role this out into all their stores next Easter, or it will make an appearance over on Lush Kitchen, as the neroli, manadrin and rose ingredients in this made the fragrance quite woody and rosey, and these notes were topped off with a powdery clean fresh scent, which is right up my street. With all the hype surrounding it, I also really wanted to try The Experimenter Bath Bomb and have to say I was a little dissappointed. The smell of the bath bomb is like a nicer smell of bonfires, with hints of vanilla, vetivert and tonka, it really is a nice woody, relaxing scent and is initially really pretty in the bath but it fizzed out so fast that it just left me thinking, is this it? Being away from home for the term, means that I'm still working through the Brightside Bubble Bar and although it's not as photogenic as it was at Christmas, it is still giving me my fix of citrusy, uplighting goodness with the three different orange scents.

The Clarins Relax Bath & Shower Concentrate is actually my mum's but I've been using it a lil' bit because it literally smells of relaxation! It's not the cheapest shower gel/bubble bath out there, but the concentrated cleansing treatment is activated with the heat of the water to release aromas of camomile, thyme and basil, to name a few, to relax muscles after a stressful day. It definitely seems like the perfect aromatherapy partner for ThisWorks' Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. Now my dad was gifted the Molton Brown Black Peppercorn Body Wash, and it smells ah-mazing. For some reason I'm really into my masculine smelling shower gels at the moment, and with notes of refreshing coriander, black peppercorns and aromatic vetiver - I can't get enough of this fragrance.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Bath Tea is an intersting concept. My mum received this as one of freebies for her Vogue subscription and the scent is so relaxing, but a lot fresher and crisper than the others mentionned in this post. With real tea leaves left floating around your bath it is probably best using a tea diffuser to avoid a mess. The only niggle I have with this, is that the packaging reminds me of an urn...

For the ultimate detressing bath I love to have a scented candle burning alongside my tub and my current faves include the Lula-Ray Pomegranate Manadarin Amber Scented Candle and the Circa Home Lilac & Orchid Scented Soy Candle. The first is a warming, spicy and quite a masculine scent again, and the second is like a white musky, floral and powdery fragrance. Both of these candles are amazing quality and I couldn't recommend them enough.

What have you been loving in the shower/bath recently? Do you believe baths can alleviate stress?

  3. The bright side bubble bar sounds really lovely, I love those citrusy scents. I used to love baths and I thought they were a great stress reliever as well, though oddly enough now I just prefer a good shower.

    1. I deffo agree, Lush is essential for any part in a pamper evening! I did like The Experimenter and the scent of it and it was pretty in the bath, but I think it just a little hyped up so I had really high expectations of it! Yeah the bath tea is a really interesting concept and smells gorgeous. Thanks for stopping by on my blog :) x

  12. Some of those Lush bath bombs look incredible in the water, that makes me want to go and take a long hot bath right now to relax. I think the Brightside bubble bar sounds really lovely as well, even the name just cheers me up on it's own.

    1. Ah that's a shame, if you are a bit restless and always have to be doing something, I'd definitely recommend reading a book in the bath as it keeps your mind busy and gives you a bit of me time! I love a good Lush bath bomb, they all smell amazing. Thanks for reading :) x
