How to Get the Holiday Glow: Home or Away

14 February 2016

For those of you needing a break from the constant stream of Valentine's Day themed blog posts (Single Ladiez Put Your Hands Up), here's a quick guide to giving your complexion some summer lovin'. Before jetting off on my New Year break, I was determined to shake up my skincare regime to get rid of my skin's dull, winter feel and get it glowing so that a tan would only enhance it. With the help of some Christmas presents and recent beauty purchases, I believe I've stumbled on a great combo to boost skin's radiance.

To cleanse, I've been using my ever trustworthy Super Facialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renewal Cleansing Oil. The citrusy goodness is evident in it's gorgeous smell, and this oil definitely isn't too heavy for my oily complexion, in fact the longer I spend massaging this into my skin the better the brightening results. Without stripping the skin of all its natural oils, it leaves skin feeling fresh and moisturised and is also great at removing waterproof mascara (a must on holiday). To tone, I've been using bloggers' favourite Pixi Glow Tonic and after the first use, my skin was noticably smoother and a bit brighter. It also smells amazing too.

To brighten my eye area, hydrate it from spot treatments and depuff my under-eye baggage caused by late nights, I've been using the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream after hearing so many great things about the GinZing range. Although the directions advise to apply this in the AM, I find it to be more effective using it before I go to bed, avoiding the puffiness and dark circles in the morning. For my base, I wanted to where something rather light whilst away that provided SPF and so picked up La Roche-Posay's Rosaliac CC Cream. The finish to this banishes any signs of redness and is very dewy looking, giving even my oily skin a radiant healthy glow.

The star of this collection though, has to be the Super Facialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Glow Boost Skin Serum. You apply a layer of this under your everyday moisturiser, and for me this works the best at giving my complexion that summer holiday glow. Although it says to only apply a pea size amount of this to the face in one go, I normally find myself using more and so I may need a replacement tube soon. But it is a great drugstore find and is serious bang for your buck.

What are your favourite skincare products that get you glowing?

  2. I'd really love to have skin that's a bit brighter and more glowy. I've been thinking of getting the pixi glow tonic but lately I've heard a couple of people say that the Clarins brightening toner is better, so I'm torn!

    1. Yeah, a bit of glow really makes a difference in my opinion, when my skin is radiant I definitely feel happier and more confident. It took me forever to track down the Pixi Toner, but in the UK it is definitely cheaper than the Origins one.. But maybe I'll pick that up next :) x

    1. It's a great toner, isn't it? I thought that because it was a chemical exfloiator that it would be quite harsh but it really isn't. Thanks for reading Gemma :) x

    1. The Glow Tonic is literally the only thing I've tried from them, but after loving it so much I definitely want to try out more of their products! Haha it's definitely worth picking it up in your nearest/largest M&S as it saves on Pixi's sky high delivery prices :) x
