Recent Repurchases and Holiday Beauty Buys

10 January 2016

In the lead up to Christmas a load of my beauty products managed to run out at the exact same time *sigh*... and if you follow me over on Instagram, you'll be well aware that I've been sunning myself over in Mauritius (soz for the #HolidaySpam), so there were also some essentials I needed for me jollies. Either way, I ended up spending way too much money over the festive period so hopefully these bits and pieces will last me....

RECENT REPURCHASES
I only wrote about Soap and Glory's Solar Powder, Lush's Daddy-O Shampoo and the Super Facialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renewal Cleansing Oil last week in my 2015 favourites post, so I won't bore you here... But these are seriously amazing products and I couldn't recommend them more! I've also lost count of whether this is my fourth or fifth tube of La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+ Anti-Blemish Cream - the product is so light and I've seen sucha a dramatic difference in terms of my spots and the fading of scars. This hasn't fully stopped me from breaking out and I'm a bit worried that my complexion is becoming immune to its powers - but if you are in doubt over trying it BUY IT AND BUY IT NOW hehe...

HOLIDAY BEAUTY BUYS
Whenever I am away, a waterproof mascara is a must for withstanding dips in the pool and lasting all day long. After reading glowing reviews for Maybelline's Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara on the blogosphere, I picked a tube up. I'm loving the formula so far, but I find that there's serious excess product on the brush and I have to apply it with a light hand to avoid clumping. Sun cream also causes serious breakouts on my face, so I was on the hunt for a lighter SPF for the daytime that would allow me to tan and still provide a bit of coverage. I was originally planning on picking up The Body Shop's All in One BB Cream, but after swatching La Roche-Posay's Rosaliac CC Cream on the back of my hand it felt so much more luxurious and it was on offer so one thing lead to another... It's not the best at covering spots, but corrects my redness and offers a great level of sun protection with factor 30 SPF.

I broke down exactly what thermal water is back in August and although I do think it can be a bit of a gimmic, I wanted a little Thermal Water to freshen up on the long haul flight. This is within the carry on limit and I got this free alongside the Rosaliac CC Cream and the Effaclar Duo+ in a Boots deal. I love how this can be carried around just about anywhere and it's been in my beach bag all week! Although this wasn't strictly a holiday purchase, I had been trying to get hold of the Pixi Glow Tonic for pretty much the whole of 2015, but it was either out of stick or the delivery prices where redonculous. When I found out that my local M&S stocked it, I rushed to the cashier and so far so good!

Did you end up treating yourself to any beauty gifts in the run up to Christmas? Or are there any products you keep buying over and over?

  1. I'm having the same problem with the Pixi Glow Tonic, I went to buy it in store the other day but it was sold out and it's so hard to find in stock online!

    1. Aw thank you Nicole! It's such a lovely island, I hope you get to go to see it for yourself. I think it is working as my complexion is so much more glowly than usual, but I've added a load of other glowy products into my skincare regime so it's hard to tell what is making a difference and what isn't. But the Glow Tonic definitely feels as if it's working haha :) x

  4. I don't get on with Effaclar Duo at all but I love Glow Tonic! I found the Maybelline mascara could get quite clumpy for me too but gave a good curl!

    1. Ah no, I think it's effects are wearing off on me unfortunately so I think I might have a break from using it! The Glow Tonic certainly feels like it's working when I use it. So glad I'm not the only one to find this clumpy but I agree it holds a curl so well and when I get the application right, I love the way it looks :) x

    1. It's an amazing shampoo isn't it! I love how it brings out all the shades in my hair colour. Ah yes, I've heard LRP is really hard to get hold of in Austrailia so I assume it's the same for you - that's such a shame :( x

  7. I really need to try the waterproof version of the Lash Sensational mascara as I love the original, and I've heard it's better in the waterproof version! xx

    1. It holds a curl really impressively and is so long lasting so I assume the waterproof version may be a little better than the original? Either way I'm impressed with the formula, it seems to have lost a bit of its clumpiness the more I've used it :) xx

    1. It's such a great product isn't it? I think I might have to have a bit of a break from using it though, as my blemishes (but thankfully not the marks they leave behind) don't seem to be as affected by it anymore :( x
