Mauritius: a Holiday Photo Diary

24 January 2016

Going to keep this post short and sweet as many of these photographs can talk for themselves! As you may or may not know, over New Year my family and I had a much needed break in amazing Mauritius. Although the flights with Air Mauritius there and back were pretty bad (I'm talking food poisoning, delays and the oldest and uncomfiest seats ever with ashtrays in the arms), I won't remember that as it was a truely magical and relaxing holiday. We stayed at the Club Med resort La Plantation d'Albion on the west coast of the island which was flawless, and the constant supply of all inclusive food and cocktails was muchly appreciated and taken advantage of. I was actually tearful when it came to leaving, something I have never done at the end of a holiday before. It was a lil' slice of paradise and coming back to reality a couple of weeks ago was a bit of a shock to the system. All in all, it was maybe the best holiday of my life so far. Hope you enjoyed this peak into my travels.

What has been your favourite holiday destination?

  5. My husband is from Mauritius, and every few years we stay for about a month at a time. Actually not to far from Gran Baie too. I see you were in Pereybere beach, which is actually one of the best beaches on the island. It is small, but very clean! You must have been staying at a near by resort.
The weather is the best at New Years as it is summer there, and the continuous fire works for New Years is just amazing! I miss it now!

    1. Ah that sounds lovely! This is actually the beach that backed off the hotel we were staying in and was near Albion, but the different areas of the resort were called by names of towns and areas on the island. It is such a beautiful beach though, I'd happily set up camp there and stay forever haha. The majority of the time the weather was great but it actually rained every day we were there apart from one! And when we visited once before in May, I don't remember it raining. But the continuous fireworks were great - I miss it just talking about it! Thanks for stopping by :) x

  6. I have never been to Mauritius but looks like an amazing place. Such a shame about the flight. That kind of puts me off going as I already don't love flying... even worse when you fly with a bad company. I love Italy. Venice and Lake Garda have been my favourite holiday destinations so far. x

    1. It really is an amazing place and I really recommend you go if you ever get the chance! Yeah I can definitely see why you would be put off by the long flight, I've had beter experiences long haul but this has put me off flying with them again. Yeah Italy is an amazing country, I really want to visit Verona and Venice - they are definitely on my bucket list :) x

  7. You certainly took me back to my honeymoon period. Me & hubzy opted for Mauritius and it was so so beautiful! P.s. I left my camera and old iPhone pics had to do the job. The images are so lush. Good to know you had a lovely time there with your family. x
