Beauty Bits I Got For Christmas #2

27 December 2015

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that you have an amazing new year ahead of you! Following on from last year's post, I thought I'd give you another nosey to the beauty bits Santa and my family/friends got for me this year. Just think of it as a preview to things that will be making an appearance on the blog in the new year, so sit back and maybe grab yourself a cuppa as this is quite a wordy post (even for me).

First off I got this gorgeous Alphabet Wash Bag from Oliver Bonas, the grey canvas against the turquoise is so aethetically pleasing (my old art teacher would be so proud of me for using his favourite phrase). This one was much needed as the insides of all my current wash bags are covered in spilt nail polish and smudged ends of eyeliner. For the first bit of skincare, I mentioned in my 'How to Get Glowing' post that I wanted to get my hands on the Super Facialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Glow Boost Skin Serum, but other purchases got in the way and so I popped this on my xmas list. I'm excited to trail this serum and see if it lives up to the Cleansing Oil's good reputation.

The price tag of the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil stops me from buying this for myself, but if you are ever in need of a gift for me look no further than this liquid gold (I sing praises for this here, here and here). Also from L'Occitane is this nifty Hand Cream Set which includes minatures of Delightful Rose, Vanilla Bouquet and Dry Skin Hand Creams, all of which smell gorgeous. The first scented candle I ever treated myself to was a larger version of this Fairy Dust Lily Flame Candle, I'm so glad this light, fluffy and almost powdery fragrance is back in my life again.

My dad genuinely asked if the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette was a chocolate bar when I unwrapped it... So you could say that the packaging lives up to its name? This palette has been on my beauty wishlist for what feels like years, and with the right balance of matte, shimmery and glittery shadows this may even take over the original Naked Palette's top-spot for my favourite eyeshadow palette. I'm most excited to try out the Warm Notes and Subtle Blend shadows.

My two Lush goodies are the Intergallitic Bath Bomb and the Brightside Bubble Bar. The first was firmly planted on my list as I was unable to find it on a recent trip to the Oxford Street Flagship store. The colours this disperses in the bath (according to Instagram) look like they could take you to another galaxy but it smells like Elf's seven levels of the candy cane forest. When I come to use the bubble bar I will have to refrain from bursting into The Killers' lyrics, but the three different orange scents in this product are definitely uplifting and will more than help me to look on the bright side of life *starts to whistle*.

I've had my eyes on Topshop's Chameleon Glow in Shuffle the Cards for over a year and luckily received this alongside it's purpley counterpart Wax + Wane. These dual-pigmented powders supposedly can be used on both the eyes and as a highlighter, but I think I'll only dare use the pretty gold/pinky pigment as a highlighter when my skin looks a little more tanned.

Talking of highlighter, the RealTechniques Setting Brush is back in my life after losing it on a night out (I swear Newcastle clubs swallow makeup brushes or maybe I just dance too rigourously). This brush is amazing for setting pressed powder under the eyes and nose as well as strategically placing highlighter along the cheekbones. Also from RT I now have the Miracle Complexion Sponge; I seriously want to get into properly blending foundation for a flawless base, and this is an expert sponge without a ridiculous price tag.

The Summit of Style polish from Essie is part of their LuxEffects collection and is definitely a festive favourite amongst bloggers - and all for good reason. I will more than likely be sporting this golden formula on my fingertips come New Year's Eve. Last but not least is the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. I popped this on my list after hearing amazing things about the range and at this time of year the skin around my eyes particularly dries up with the change in weather, central heating and spot treatments. Also with pulling all-nighters around the January essay and exam period, maybe this will become my new best friend for faking a good night's sleep.

Father Christmas was extremely generous this year and I am so grateful for all that my friends and family have done for me over the past 12 months! What beauty goodies did you get this year?

    1. Ah really! I feel a bit hestiant to use it just because the palette is so pretty. But what I have used of it definitely seems to rival my Naked pallette so I think it may now be my favourite ever eyeshadow palette :) x

    1. Yes Santa definitely was generous this year haha! The smell of it is so gorgeous and when I used it last night it seemed to create more bubbles than any other bubble bars I've used before. I'm so excited to try Intergallatic, it has such a relaxing scent and is definitely worth picking up next time you are in Lush! You too, hope you had a merry Christmas and have a great New Year ahead of you :) x
