What's In My Bag: the Uni Edition

12 November 2015

This is the type of post that probably would be better in video form, but it's a post I've been wanting to do for a while so here goes! The reason I love 'What's in My Bag' posts is because they offer a little insight into blogger's/vlogger's lives and can make you think of things that you should be carrying around with you. So for any other students out there (and anyone else that might be interested), here's a nosey into what's in my uni bag.

This bag is the Mi-Pac Perforated Backpack (bought via ASOS), as this year I decided that one-shouldered bags aren't worth the back damage to look good and so far my back/posture is thanking me for it. The straps of this are fairly padded, I love the effect of the plasticy material (and that it's waterproof) and there's a compartment within the main part of the bag called an 'internal sleeve pocket' which is great for storing and protecting your laptop. So for the contents of my bag, I'll start from the left and work my way clockwise...

This cute watch print pouch from Mary Quant London contains my uni beauty essentials, including painkillers (current choice Anadin Extra and a 4Head Stick) as I am quite prone to headaches and you can never be too prepared. To top up my makeup during the day I carry around Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara in Blackest Black, the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer in Light, the Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder in 52 Vanilla, the original Carmex Lip Balm and the RealTechniques Powder Brush. For a bit of aromatherapy/a pamper mid-library session, I turn to a scented hand cream and currently I'm using L'Occitane's Fleur Chérie Hand Cream - the scent of which is so light and florally and the formula sinks into the skin dreamily. As things can get a little sweaty on my way to uni, I also ensure that I pack a bottle of Sure's Bright Bouquet Compressed Deodorant and L'Occitane's Fleur Chérie Solid Perfume.

My purse is from River Island, and it depends on how organised I'm feeling as to whether I bring my Paperchase Diary into uni, since being hardback it is rather heavy to carry in every day. To keep it organised though I write out my to-do lists on post-it notes and stick these in on each day. For my pencil case I'm using the Lemon Squeezy Zip-Up Pouch from Marks and Spencer, which I think is so cute - Marks and Spencer have seriously upped their stationary game and I could easily spend a small fortune on it. Colour is an essential part of my note-taking and reading process, so highlighters are always a must and these are the Stabilo Boss Highlighters which were on offer at the start of the year in Rymans. For said note-taking I find it useful to have all my notes from different modules all in one place and so I tend to purchase a new Pukka Pad Project Book for each semester. If I'm having a library day (which is most days) my Macbook will be in my bag as I hate using the uni's keybaords (#PrincessCharlotte) and I tend to listen to classical (or at least relaxing) music whilst I work so I always have my earphones on me.

As well as my house keys and student card, I do carry my phone with me everyday but forgot to include it in the picture - my current phone case though can be found over on my Topshop Haul post. So I don't actually carry this around with me at uni... but as it's organisational and generally helps me map out my week with deadlines, seminars or lectures, I had to include the Compact Weekly Planner from Anthropologie. I recently went into the Regent Street store for a friend's birthday present and couldn't leave without getting something for myself so settled for this planner; it's been so useful and is pretty to look at too *bonus*. And last but not least, I print off my set reading of scholarly articles as my attention span is too short to read off a screen and I recently really enjoyed "Decoding Cosmetics and Fashion Advertisements in Contemporary Women's Magazines" by Dolores Martinez Reventos.

What are your daily essentials that you have to carry around in your bag?

  6. When I was at uni I studied film so I used to have so much tech stuff in my bag, extra hard drives, big headphones, a bunch of cords and of course a macbook. I kind of used to love/hate lugging around my laptop, it was so heavy but great for watching sneaky YouTube videos before lectures!

    1. Oh wow, that seems like os much to carry around for the day it must have been hard word! Haha because I'm generally late I don't tend to watch Youtube videos before lectures, I normally watch them at home while getting ready which is probably the reason I am always late hahah. Thanks for stopping by :) x

    1. It's so easy to carry around isn't it! Having oily skin means that my makeup tends to slide off by lunch-time especially if I've been power-walking into university, so a makeup touch-up always makes me feel a bit better about myself whilst studying :) xx
