Walking into Pintrest: a Birthday Brunch at the Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings, Clerkenwell

25 November 2015

To celebrate my mum's birthday, my family and some of her friends chose to head to the Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell, London for brunch. As a family we had been once before in September for dinner (but it was too dark for any decent blog photos hehe), and the resturant and food was delicious so we decided to return. In terms of booking, you do have to book quite a bit in advance as it is a popular brunching destination in North London and they proved to be fully booked a week or two for the day we actually went. This proved troublesome when my mum ended up having to add one more person to our party 5 days in advance, as they initially said no but when she popped down to the restuarant and asked to see the table a few days before, they were a lot more accomodating and we managed to get the extra seat. Upon walking in, the front of house desk is a grand piano, the bar was buzzing and the atmosphere was great. With all white floors, wall and ceilings accompanied by hanging plants, the place looks like it literally stepped out of Pintrest. And with floral armchairs, marble table tops and french doors this resturant is my idea of serious interior GOALS.

Once we sat down I was craving a cocktail and they even do bottomless cocktails (can you even?) but instead my dad ordered a bottle of bubbles for the table. It was difficult when deciding what to order to eat, as everything sounded delicious. I was tempted my the B&H Breakfast but I wanted more than just three items to accompany my eggs and toast... and ordering chorizo with an English breakfast just didn't seem right. Instead I opted for Huevos Benedictos - a Spanish take on Eggs Benedit.

My Huevos Benedictos was too die for. It was made up of poached egg, english muffin, chorizo, avocado, béranaise sauce and pico de gallo (a type of salsa). The other two meals pictured are that of my mum's and sister's and they both went for their own variations of B&H Breakfast. When we booked, we were told we would only be able to have the table for an hour and a half as we were eating at peak hours. After finishing the delicious brunch because the majority of our time had gone, we weren't asked if we could have dessert or coffee etc, which is such a shame as the last time I went I loved my dessert. We asked for coffee anyhow, but when we were mid-way through our coffee a waiter came over to ask when we would be leaving and if we wanted the bill. I do understand the place is in demand, but by that point there were a fair few empty tables so I think that was unneceassary and a bit rude.

Despite that last hiccup, the brunch was so enjoyable and I seriously fell in love with the interiors - does this mean I'm getting old? I will definitely be back at this little hotspot, even if it's just for the bottomless cocktails... *insert the looking eye emoiji here*.

Where is your favourite brunching destination? Have you ever been to the Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings?

  2. This place seems really nice, the huevos looks delicious! Can't believe the waiter was that rude though, I'm sure if there were tables spare that wasn't really necessary.

    1. It is such a beautiful resturant and my dish was so so delicious. I know! I was really surprised as well, it wasn't necessary and just because a resturant is popular, it definitely doesn't give them the rights to treat paying customers like that :/ which is such a shame becuase everything else about the brunch was so good xx

  3. This place looks absolutely amazing! I think "walking into Pinterest" is exactly the best and simplest way to describe how awesome it looks. I feel a serious craving coming on to find a gorgeous spot for a brunch right now, just from staring at these gorgeous photos. I definitely need to find some cute spots such as this more in my area!
