Nails on Sunday: Christmas Edition

21 December 2014

So with only 4 days until Christmas Day (may I ask how? This year has gone far too quickly for my liking...) I thought I'd add a bit of last minute christmas cheer to my fingertips with some nail art. If you have been reading my blog you will know I'm not the most gifted in this area (see my festival and Easter inspired attempts) but I thought santa hats would be a cute and not too technical addition to my nails.

I started off my prepping my nails with the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream by Burt's Bees, which with its citrus scent, smells and feels divine. I was given this as a freebee but when it runs low I will definitely be purchasing it as its waxy finish really works to soften the cuticles and aids polish application.

I then applied my trusty Nail Nurse by Rimmel as a base coat, to protect my nails and give a shine to the background that wouldn't have any red of white to cover it. I then used Ciaté's Mistress to create the curved hat shape. The vibrancy and pigmentation of this shade make it a perfect match for Santa, and the formula itself is very glossy and gel-like, which together promise longevity. Ciaté's packaging is the cutest in the nail industry, and the elegantly long 'stiletto' cap ensures you have extra control for a sleeker application. I actually received this as part of Ciaté's Nail Taxi, which was a secret santa present from one of my housemates and it looks like this....

The collection in all is really cute, and would make a great last minute Christmas gift if you are still looking for a beauty related one!

Next for the white, I used my personal favourite Blanc by Essie. As this is the old style packaging of the polish, the brush is a lot thinner than the ones currently on Essie's stands. This made it easy to place a little dot at the top of the hat and subsequent ones along the edge of the nail.

Have you tried any festive nail art on yourself recently? Or have have you tried any of these polishes?

What do you think about Essie? I heard some conflicting opinions, some colors are really good and everytime I see them I want to buy one but I cannot decide if it worths.

Recently I opened a blog, if you have time... http://prettylittlemuffin.blogspot.it

    1. Sorry for only just seeing this! I personally love Essie and the five polishes I have by them are all gorgeous and I love the formulations and the brushes! They are also really long-lasting. It took me a while to buy polishes from Essie because of the price, but now that I have I'd really recommend them :)
