Beauty Bits I Got for Christmas

28 December 2014

I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and that your day was filled with fun, festivities and lots of food! This year I was very lucky with the gifts I've received and so I thought I'd give you a nosey into what beauty products I got, as I'm sure my favourites will be making it onto the blog into the new year.

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette: After dabbling in a few ChloĆ© fragrances, I still feel that this is my signature perfume. It's a light fruity-floral fragrance with grapefruit-quince, jasmine and white musk notes, it is perfect for spring.

Soap & Glory Love at First Blush: The brand describe this as 'rosy-radiance shimmer powder', but in simpler terms it is a highlighter and blusher packed into one. With four shimmering shades, you can adjust the colour to how you would like it and on Christmas day I applied this to the tops of my cheekbones with my RealTechniques Setting Brush. After a light application, the powder really added subtle definition and radiance to my dull winter skin.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 in NW13: This foundation should really have a post of its own by now as this is my fourth bottle of the stuff. It seems to be the only foundation that will last all day over my oily skin, leaving a matte finish with a healthy glow at the same time.

Jack Wills Nail Polish Set: Until I unwrapped this present form my Aunt, I didn't even know that Jack Wills had a beauty range. I'm really excited to try out the metallic blue in this set, as it looks a lot like the discontinued Blue on Blue polish by Topshop which I failed to get my hands on.

Soap & Glory Solar Powder in Bronzo: After reading rave reviews about this bronzer, I knew I had to add this to my Christmas list. With two bronze shades to chose from, you can easily build up a bit of golden colour and on top of the logo there is a hint of pink, shimmery highlighter.

Soap & Glory Supercat Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen: This liner actually came as a freebie with the Solar Powder and Blush, and the felt tip is very easy to control over and on the lash-line. I'm excited to see how this will weigh up to my current favourite liquid liner, L'Oreal's Super Liner.

Lush Little Snow Fairy Gift-set: This little set contains the Christmas favourite Snow Fairy shower gel and Pink Fun, both of which carry the signature candy scent that Lush is known for. I can't wait to start using this and feel like a little snow fairy myself.

Yankee Candle in Fresh Cut Roses: Rose is one of my favourite fragrances and so I can't wait to light this when I take it back up to uni with me. The scent is really calming and so I'm hoping it'll help me through the hell of third year essays, exams and my dissertation. You can never really go wrong with a Yankee Candle.

No.7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder in Translucent: I used to be very loyal to Rimmel's Clear Complexion Clarifying Powder, but as each one I purchase keeps breaking after having it for only a week, I knew it was time for a change. One of my housemates recommended this, and so far, so good. The packaging is a lot more secure than Rimmel's, so I'm hoping the extra money will go the extra mile.

Tangle Teezer Compact Styler: I'm yet to take this out of its festive packaging as I think its too cute, but I'm excited to try this detangling styler and see if it is worth the hype. As my hair can get extremely knotty, I'm hoping that this will cause my hair less damage than your average comb.

Nicky Clarke desiRED Straighteners: After nearly seven years, my little Remington straighteners called it a day and finally broke when I needed them most. Though these may not be GHDs (*sob*) the packaging boasts a study that 64% of women preferred these, so I will let you know how they get on. They have variable settings for hair thickness and also reach 230 degrees.

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil: If you have read my blog before, you will have seen me rave about this is shower oil a couple of times in How to Prep Your Limbs for Summer and Parisian Purchases, and so after going on about it so much, my family bought me another bottle. This is like liquid gold, and I am yet to try a multitasking shower product that moisturises to the same degree this does.

RealTechniques Powder Brush: One of the best brushes I have ever owned, ever. After losing my RealTechniques Multi-Task brush from the Sam's Picks collection, I popped this onto my Christmas list as a replacement, but the coverage of this brush is x10 better as it is so much thicker.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Anti-Blemish System: After seeing a dramatic difference in my skin after using the Effaclar Duo + (which I did a short review of here), I wanted to try out the rest of the range. I will be writing a post on this soon and let you know if this really works on my blemishes, clogged pores and marks as much as it promises to.

The Body Shop Glazed Apple Shimmer Lotion: A fair few beauty blogs have reviewed the holiday special Glazed Apple Body Lotion saying that the fragrance was amazing and this is definitely the case for the Shimmer Lotion too. The shimmer in this is quite subtle and so would be perfect for moisturising your arms/legs before a night out.

Have you tried any of these products? What beauty bits did you get for Christmas?
