Lunch at Joe and the Juice's Summer Pop-up on Oxford Street

3 August 2014 The John Lewis Partnership, 278-306 Oxford Street, Marylebone, London W1C 1DX, UK

To celebrate their 150th birthday, John Lewis have opened up a roof garden on top of their Oxford Street store. Kitted out with deck chairs, fake grass, plants and a tee-pee - all you need is good weather to make this the perfect shopping/lunch break in central London. John Lewis have collaborated with Joe and the Juice, who have opened up a pop-up store up there and are offering a selection of their usual menu. The garden and café will be open until the 31st of August, so I'd strongly recommend visiting before it closes!

I'm lucky enough to be interning really close to Oxford Circus, so a couple of weeks ago in my lunch-break, Katya (who you may recognise from my Sushisamba blog post) and I headed up the six floors for a quick sandwich and juice. Luckily, the sun was shining, which meant the garden looked extra pretty that day.

Juice: Hangover Heaven
To eat I opted for Joe's Club sandwich (made up of chicken, tomato and avocado) and Katya went for the Avocado sandwich (which was filled with avocado, mozzarella and tomato). The bread used for the sandwiches was brown, toasted and tasty - sorry for not taking a picture of it, turns out I was too hungry to stop and think about this post before gobbling it down (oops). But I did manage to take a picture of the freshly pressed juice called Hangover Heaven that both of us went for, which is a blend of apple, elderflower and mint. I really recommend this delicious blend even if you haven't been drinking the night before!

Back to the venue, along the front edge of the garden, expect lovely views of the city. It seemed like a real treat to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping street below, which looked funny from that high up. It's not often that you get to see the rooftops of London, so I'd thought I'd share the rare, tranquil view on here.

Though it was a really short lunchtime visit, it was a lovely place for a bite to eat and a catch up. I'll definitely be heading back before the summer is over and the garden closes!

Has anyone else visited this roof garden? Or are there any other Joe and the Juice fans out there?

    1. Ah I'm glad you liked it! I'd definitely recommend visiting before it shuts, as it seems so rare to find such a pretty rooftop from the crowds of Oxford Street :)
